Hello my name is Jugena. Currently I am going at Queens College, and my major is Elementary Education 1-6. The reason why I chose to become a teacher is because I have a passion for helping children learn and discover new things. Being a mother and seeing how my own children get excited when they learn and discover new things increases my desire that much more. This semester I am student teaching at P.S. 193. I am student teaching in a fourth grade inclusion class. I am happy that I was placed in this class because I want to major in Special Education and this class it will help me see how to teach in an inclusion classroom. I am also co-majoring in US History. The reason why I chose to co-major in US History is because I wasn't born and raised over here and I knew nothing about the history of this country. I felt that I needed to learn something about US history. How could I teach my students if I don't know anything about the history of their country.
Last semester was my first experience being in a classroom and I really enjoyed it. Before last semester my only experience being around children and working with them was pretty much babysitting nieces and nephews and also tutoring my neighbors' kids. I have to say that having, and raising my own children was my biggest experience around children. Everyday I teach them new things and everyday I learn new things from them as well.
One of my hobbies is reading. I love to read , sometimes I get so lost while reading, that I don't realize how many hours have passed. I also enjoy music and traveling. I used to love cooking, but not anymore.
